"Last school year, 2023-2024, we formed AI committees comprised of a teacher from every department, middle school and high school. We wanted to have a good meld of teachers in those committees. […] The members were given four goals at the start of the committee that we were going to work on throughout the year:
1. Acquire a working understanding of AI.
2. Learning how to best integrate AI within each academic department using Flint and other tools.
3. Define academic integrity with AI.
4. Create a school-wide AI policy."

"We started working with our school leaders in the Summer 2023. Senior Leaders participated in several exploratory sessions to better understand what AI is, how it works, and how we might be able to leverage it. In the Fall 2023, we started working with our Academic Council which consists of Division Leaders and Department Chairs from Middle and Upper School. This group met 5 times to craft and finalize our guiding principles and these guiding principles were then handed off to the AI Task Force that built an AI resource for teachers. This resource is both professional development and a guide to best practices. In conjunction with the creation of the AI resource, we also vetted AI tools for schools and chose Flint as our only approved AI tool for the 2024-25 school year."

And then, your responsibility is to share with the teacher how you used AI, and Flint makes sharing that chat very easy."

In our next revision, we introduced a usage scale based on the work of Leon Furze, which allowed teachers to clearly indicate and communicate the acceptable level of AI integration for each assignment.
