Background on the Flint Innovative Educator (FIE) program

The Flint Innovative Educator (FIE) program, launched in Fall 2024, aims to recognize educators using Flint to transform their teaching practices.

One of Flint’s founding principles is the belief that AI should enable educators to offer radically personalized instruction for each and every student.

How have you used Flint to improve personalization in your classroom? How have your students used AI to learn more effectively? What can other educators learn from your experiences as they aim to use AI to improve teaching and learning in their schools?

All you need to do to apply is create a video that is a maximum of 2 minutes long explaining how you use AI in your teaching. Follow the steps below to create and submit your video to help share your story with the broader community, and to be recognized as a pioneer in the intersection of artificial intelligence and education.

  1. Create your application video

Flint Innovative Educators are recognized for their use of AI in transforming learning to be more personalized and engaging for students. Your application video should help bring your story to life, and may capture any of the following themes:

  1. Progress in personalizing learning. Let us know how you have leveraged Flint to offer a more personalized learning experience for students. What about your experience in using Flint has stood out to other activities and assignments that you have typically used with students?

  2. Progress in outcomes. Let us know how students are performing better as a result of their new learning experiences in Flint. Share examples of student improvement in a specific area, or anecdotes of improved student performance due to greater personalization.

  3. Advocacy. Have you made use of or shared Flint outside of the classroom or school environment to encourage personalized learning amongst educators? Have you discussed or presented about Flint at a conference or webinar, on social media, or demonstrated thought leadership in some other way?

  1. Submit your application video

Videos should be no longer than two minutes, including any introductions or end credits. Please upload your video to YouTube. While you can include footage of yourself speaking directly to the camera, we highly recommend also including footage demonstrating one of the themes highlighted above.

Once you have uploaded your video to YouTube (either as a public or unlisted video), fill out the form below to submit it!

Within five business days of submitting your application, the Flint team will reach out to let you know if you’ve been selected to be a Flint Innovative Educator! If selected, you’ll receive the following certificate (which can be added to your portfolio and/or LinkedIn profile) as well as a badge which can be added to your email signature.

Flint Educators of the Month

Every month, the Flint team selects up to three Educators of the Month.

To be eligible to be a Flint Educator of the Month, please set your application video as public and link to flintk12.com in the description. Even if you’re not selected this month, you’ll be eligible to be selected as a Educator of the Month in following months!

Flint Educator of the Month includes a special badge and a $300 Visa gift card.
