Quiet classroom music for when the room should stay quiet
Work time goes better with quiet music in the background, but nobody wants to pick a playlist in front of the class. Calming Classroom Music has 150 instrumental lofi songs across four vibes, with no lyrics. Pick a vibe and its songs play shuffled, each one fading into the next. It starts at 40 on its own volume slider, a quiet level. There are no ads, no accounts and nothing to search for.
How Calming Classroom Music works

Pick a vibe
Calm Reading for independent reading and tests, Study Hall for worksheets and practice, Creative Work for art, projects and group work, or Rainy Day for any quiet time.

Press Play
A shuffled mix of that vibe's songs starts quietly and keeps going. The vibe and the song's name stay in the corner, and the controls fade after a few seconds and come back when you move the mouse.

Start a work timer
Pick 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 45 minutes, or type your own time. When it's up, the music fades out over 10 seconds and one soft chime rings.

Skip or keep a song
New song moves on to the next one. The heart saves a song to Favorites so you can play it again another day, and Vibe switches the mood without stopping the music.
What's in Calming Classroom Music
A cozy scene for the board
The screen shows a window over a desk where Sparky, Flint's mascot, reads in earmuff headphones and a cat keeps you company on the windowsill. Each vibe has its own time of day, from golden hour to a starry night, and on Rainy Day rain runs down the glass while the cat watches it. The motion is slow, so the scene stays in the background.

Run it from across the room
Every control has a key, and a presentation clicker whose next button sends Page Down or the right arrow, as most do, plays a new song, so you never have to walk back to the computer.

Make each vibe your own
Settings has a rain layer and a soft record crackle you can add to any vibe, and a time of day for each one. You can set the starting volume, a default timer and the end chime, and turn off the animation, Sparky or the cat.

Calming Classroom Music questions
What is Calming Classroom Music?
A free web page that plays quiet instrumental lofi music for independent work. Pick one of four vibes, press Play, and it shuffles through that vibe's songs while a calm animated scene fills the screen.
Is it free?
Yes. There are no ads, no accounts and no sign-up.
Does the music have lyrics?
No. Every song is instrumental lofi, so students can read and write over it.
Which vibe should I use?
Calm Reading, which has no drums, suits independent reading and tests. Study Hall suits worksheets and practice, Creative Work suits art, projects and group work, and Rainy Day suits any quiet time.
How loud does it play?
It starts at 40 on its own volume slider, a quiet level, and the computer's volume still applies. The up and down arrows, or Louder and Quieter, change it in small steps, and Settings changes the starting volume.
What happens when the timer ends?
The music fades out over 10 seconds and one soft chime rings. You can turn the chime off in Settings.
Can I use a presentation clicker?
Yes. It works with clickers whose next button sends Page Down or the right arrow, which is most of them, and that button plays a new song. On a keyboard, Space plays and pauses, the up and down arrows change the volume, T opens the timer, F goes full screen and Esc closes a menu.
What do I need to run it?
Chrome on a Chromebook or laptop connected to the classroom speakers and board, and an internet connection, since the songs stream as they play.
Can I turn off the animation?
Yes. Settings has switches for the animation, Sparky and the cat, so the screen can be as still as you like.
