AI language learning
Practice Spanish, French or another language with Sparky, by voice or text. Sparky talks at your level, corrects your mistakes in a line or two, and keeps the conversation going in the language you're learning.

How AI language learning works
Say what you're learning
Type something like "Practice my Spanish". Sparky asks how long you've studied and how you'd rate your level.
Talk or type
Answer in the language you're learning, typed or spoken. Sparky keeps the conversation at your level.
Get corrected as you go
When you make a mistake, Sparky shows the correct way to say it in a line or two, then keeps the conversation moving.
What you can practice
Conversation at your level
Chat about school, weekend plans or anything else. Sparky writes in the language you're learning and adds English only where you need it.
Corrections in a line or two
Sparky points out one or two mistakes at a time and gives correct versions, like "Llevo dos años estudiando español", so you can use them in your next message.
Real-life role-plays
Pick a situation, like ordering at a restaurant in Madrid. Sparky plays the waiter, and you answer as the customer.
Speaking out loud
Use the microphone to speak instead of typing, and click Listen to hear Sparky's reply read aloud.
Flashcards you can flip
Ask for flashcards on a topic and Sparky builds a deck you can flip, shuffle and go through card by card.
Your own work stays yours
Sparky practices the same skills as your assignment with you, but won't write the answer you hand in.
Ways students use it
Spanish conversation
A few minutes of conversation practice between classes, at your level.
French conversation
Practice French the same way, from your first phrases to a speaking exam.
Ordering food
Role-play a restaurant: Sparky is the waiter and you order in the language you're learning.
Vocabulary flashcards
A deck for a unit's words that you can flip and shuffle before a quiz.
Data privacy

What teachers say about Flint
"I tried chatting in spoken Spanish, and Flint could roleplay and understand everything. It’s amazing how well it can keep asking deeper and deeper questions based on the initial prompt. A revolutionary tool for language learning!"

Sebastian Bartis
Spanish Teacher at St. Stephen's and St. Agnes
"'It’s like having 20 of you in the room.' That’s what one of my Grade 12 IB French B students said after using Flint to prepare for their Individual Oral. Flint became a space where they could rehearse as much as they wanted, without judgment."

Anthony Daoudi
Upper School French Teacher at The York School
"Flint makes sure that students keep working on their language skills under proper guidance. Teachers can spend less time ensuring that students make corrections and concentrate instead on creating more meaningful interactive activities in class."

Galina Tchourilova
Upper School French Teacher at The Harker School
Frequently asked questions
Is AI language learning free?
Yes, it's free for students.
Can I learn a language using AI?
AI is a good way to get more practice between classes: you can hold a conversation whenever you want and get corrected as you go. Use it alongside your class, not instead of it. Sparky talks at your level and switches to English only when you need help understanding.
Can I practice speaking out loud?
Yes. Click the microphone in an empty message box, speak, then check the transcript and send it. Click Listen under any reply to hear Sparky read it. Sparky's feedback is based on the words in your transcript, so it corrects your grammar and word choice, not your accent.
Which languages can I practice?
Students practice Spanish and French most, and also Chinese, German, Japanese and others. Tell Sparky which language you're learning in your first message.
Will Sparky do my Spanish homework?
No. Sparky won't complete exercises or write answers you have to hand in. It will practice the same grammar or vocabulary with you, so you can do the assignment yourself.
How do I start if my school doesn't use Flint?
Sign up at app.flintk12.com with your email, Google or Microsoft account. If your school isn't listed, choose I want to use Flint for learning to set up your own space. In the US you need to be 13 or older.
