AI worksheet generator

Tell Sparky what students should practice, in one line or with your slides. Sparky writes the worksheet with an answer key, ready to print or send to Google Docs or Word.

A teacher asks Sparky for a photosynthesis worksheet and gets a first draft right away, with Sparky asking whether to add short answers, a diagram to label, or the teacher's slides

How the worksheet generator works

  1. Tell Sparky what students should practice

Type a request in the chat, such as "two-step equations for 7th grade". Attach your slides or notes if you want the questions to follow your lesson. If the grade level or how long students have is missing, Sparky may ask before it writes.

  2. Check the draft

Sparky writes the worksheet in a document beside the chat: directions, the questions in order, and the answer key at the end. Ask for changes in plain language, like "make question 4 harder" or "add a word bank", or click into the document and edit it yourself.

  3. Print it or export it

Copy the worksheet, print it, save it to Google Drive as a Google Doc, or download a Word file. To track the scores afterward, Sparky can also make a gradebook spreadsheet.

What you can put on a worksheet

  • Any question type

Multiple choice, fill in the blank, matching, short answer, long response and labeled diagrams. Ask for a mix, or for one type only.

  • Math that looks right

Equations are typeset the way they would be in a textbook, and Sparky uses a calculator for the arithmetic, so the answer key holds up. Graphs are plotted with code at exact values.

  • Pictures

Ask Sparky to draw an illustration for a question, such as a food web or a labeled cell, or paste in your own image.

  • More than one version

Ask for an easier version with a worked example at the top, or a harder one for students who finish early. Each version comes as its own document with its own answer key.

  • A whole set at once

One message can return a worksheet, a study guide and a rubric for grading the worksheet. Each one is a separate document you can export.

Ways teachers use it

  • Vocabulary worksheets

Paste your word list for matching, fill-in-the-blank sentences with a word bank and questions that use the words in context.

  • Math worksheets

Name the skill and grade for practice problems, word problems and a mistake to find and fix, with the steps in the key.

  • Spelling worksheets

Paste this week's words. Every section practices them: fill in the blank, unscramble, fix the misspelling and write sentences.

  • Reading comprehension

Sparky writes a passage on your topic at your grade level, with questions that ask for evidence from it and an answer key.

  • Exit tickets

Three to five questions on today's objective for the last ten minutes of class.

  • Sub plans

A worksheet with clear directions and an answer key the substitute can check against.

  • Test review

Ask for a review worksheet built from the unit's slides, with one section per topic on the test.

  • Your own texts and labs

Attach a text and ask for questions that need evidence from it, or upload a lab handout and ask for pre-lab questions that check students read the procedure.

Frequently asked questions

Is the worksheet generator free?

Yes. The worksheet maker is free for teachers, and there's no limit on how many worksheets you can make.

Can I make a worksheet from my own materials?

Yes. Attach your slides, a PDF, a Word document or a link in the chat, or import a file from Google Drive or OneDrive. Sparky writes the questions from what you attach, so the worksheet uses your vocabulary and your examples.

Does it make an answer key?

Yes. The worksheet generator puts the answer key in its own section at the end, with a short explanation where a step needs one. Ask Sparky to drop the explanations if you only want the answers.

Can I download the worksheet as a Google Doc, Word file or PDF?

The document has buttons to copy it, print it, save it to your Google Drive as a Google Doc, or download it as a Word file. For a PDF, press Print and choose Save as PDF in your browser's print window.

Can a worksheet have pictures?

Yes. Ask Sparky to add a picture when you ask for the worksheet, or later, such as "add a diagram of a plant cell for question 3". Sparky draws it and places it in the worksheet. To use your own picture, open the worksheet and paste it, drag it in, or press the add image button. Pictures stay in the worksheet when you print it, save it to Google Docs or download it as a Word file.

Does it work for math and science?

Yes. Equations are typeset properly, Sparky checks arithmetic with a built-in calculator, and graphs are plotted with code so the values are exact. You can also ask Sparky to draw an illustration for a diagram question.

Can students use the worksheet creator?

No. It is a teacher tool. Students have their own tools in Flint, such as the study guide maker.
