How the SAT practice generator works

  1. Ask for practice problems

Press the button, or tell Sparky which kind of question you keep missing. Sparky builds a practice set beside the chat.

  2. Answer one question at a time

Each question is a short text and four choices, like the digital SAT. Pick one and press Submit Answer.

  3. See why, then keep going

The set marks your answer and explains the right one. Ask Sparky to change the set, like all transitions or harder questions.

What you can practice

  • Words in context

Pick the most precise word for a blank, the way the test asks it: "the most logical and precise word or phrase".

  • Main ideas and evidence

Find the main idea, the finding that supports a claim, and the quotation that backs up an argument.

  • Grammar and punctuation

Subject-verb agreement, commas and semicolons, as in the Standard English Conventions questions.

  • Transitions and notes

Choose the transition that fits the logic, and use a student's notes to meet a writing goal.

  • A question you missed

Paste a question from a practice test, or attach a screenshot, and work through it with Sparky in the chat.

  • The set on paper

Press Print above the set to get a copy to work on away from the screen.

Ways students use it

  • Find your weak spot

Do a set that mixes all four parts of the test and see which kind of question costs you points.

  • Drill one skill

Ask for a whole set on the skill you keep missing, like transitions or comma rules.

  • After a practice test

Go back over the questions you missed in Bluebook with Sparky, one at a time, until each makes sense.

  • SAT math

The SAT math practice generator gives one problem at a time, with a hint when you're stuck.

Frequently asked questions

Is the SAT practice generator free?

Yes, it's free for students. Sign in at app.flintk12.com with your school Google or Microsoft account, or with your school email.

How does a practice set work?

Sparky builds the set beside the chat and shows one question at a time. Pick an answer and press Submit Answer: the set marks it, shows the right answer and explains why, then you press Next Question.

Is the practice graded?

No. The set keeps a score while you work so you can see how you're doing, but it isn't a grade. Try Again at the end, or Restart above the set, starts it over at zero.

How many questions are in a set, and can I retry one?

Sets usually have five or six questions. Each question is checked once and then explained, so press Try Again at the end to work through the set again, or ask Sparky for more questions or a set on one skill.

Are these real SAT questions?

No. Sparky writes new, unofficial questions in the digital SAT's style: a short text, one question and four choices. If a question looks wrong, tell Sparky and it fixes the set. For official practice, take the free full-length tests in the College Board's Bluebook app.

Is there SAT math practice too?

Yes. The SAT math practice generator gives one problem at a time, with a hint when you're stuck.

Can teachers use it?

Teachers can open it to try the practice students see. To make a set of questions for a class, with an answer key to print, use the AI quiz generator.
