How to check students' math work with AI
How to check students' math work with AI: students solve division on paper and send Sparky a photo. Sparky reads each line, asks the student to check their answer by multiplying, and points to the line only if they're still stuck. Shown with a free partial quotients activity.

How to set up AI tutoring in your school
How to set up AI tutoring in your school: every student gets one-on-one help from an AI tutor during class, and the teacher hears about the students who need a person. Shown with an Algebra 1 slope lesson and a free tutor activity.

How to support productive struggle in math
How to support productive struggle in math in three steps: give each student a problem that is a little hard for them, ask a question instead of fixing their mistake, and give feedback right after each answer, shown with a free ratios and proportions activity.
MathematicsMathsMiddle schoolKey Stage 3
How to teach adding and subtracting integers
How to teach adding and subtracting integers with temperatures: each student fills in a week of ski resort temperature changes with Sparky, gets a hint when they combine the numbers across zero, and moves to a harder day once they're right. Free activity.
MathematicsMathsMiddle schoolKey Stage 3
How to teach algebraic expressions
How to teach algebraic expressions from a real situation: each student writes an expression for money they earn, tests it in a spreadsheet in their chat with Sparky, and finds their own mistake when the totals stop matching. Free activity.
MathematicsMathsMiddle schoolKey Stage 3
How to teach equivalent ratios
How to teach equivalent ratios so students multiply instead of add: a paint mixer turns each student's ratio into a color, and 6 blue to 7 yellow comes out bluer than 2 to 3. Shown with one student's chat and a free activity.
MathematicsMathsHigh schoolKey Stages 4 and 5
How to teach exponential growth and decay
How to teach exponential growth and decay with a question students care about: each student finds how long they can play music at 100 decibels from the NIOSH noise limit, where the safe time halves every 3 decibels, then solves for their own commute with a logarithm.
MathematicsMathsElementaryPrimary
How to teach factors and multiples
How to teach factors and multiples so students find them instead of copying a list: students arrange chairs in equal rows, Sparky draws every try, and each student finds the factor pairs of 24, why 13 makes only one row, and that 24 is a multiple of its factors.

How to teach fractions on a number line
How to teach fractions on a number line, then decimals: students draw and number every line on a whiteboard, and Sparky checks each dot against the numbers they wrote, in a free Flint activity.
MathematicsMathsHigh schoolKey Stages 4 and 5
How to teach inequalities
How to teach inequalities so students can write one from a word problem: one student compares two gym plans in a spreadsheet Sparky builds, finds where the cheaper plan switches, and writes the inequality that proves it, with a free Algebra 1 activity.

How to teach math to English language learners
ELL math strategies for multilingual learners: give the key terms in each student's home language, teach the words before the problems, and match each question to the student's level, shown with a free linear equations review.
MathematicsMathsHigh schoolKey Stages 4 and 5
How to teach SOH CAH TOA
How to teach SOH CAH TOA so students know why the ratios work: each student resizes a right triangle Sparky builds and sees sine, cosine and tangent stay put until the angle changes. A wrong ratio gets sent back to that triangle, and a right answer gets an angle to find with inverse sine.

How to teach the volume of a rectangular prism
How to teach the volume of a rectangular prism so students know why length × width × height works: students fill a 3D box with unit cubes one layer at a time, then find the volume of two boxes joined into an L shape, in a free Flint activity.
